Did I mention that I'm an aunt, and Gabriel finally has a cousin?! My brother, Erick, and his wife, El, had their baby 11/11. I'm so excited for them!

Things have been crazy hectic here as usual, which I'm learning is the norm these days. I booked a flight to go visit them for Thanksgiving, but Gabriel and I have caught a cold. I think I'm pretty much over it, but we'll see if Gabriel will be better tomorrow. I'm anxious to get my hands on little Isa(bella), but not if either one of us is sick. We'll see what happens....

I think it's so neat to see my brother and sister-in-law as parents. It's been such a joy having Gabriel, and I'm excited for them to know the feeling of the happiness and wonder that comes along with having a child. I know that Isa will bring them a whole new meaning to life.

Congratulation on your little one! I'm so very happy for you both! :) XXOO

First Family Trip

I commented to Kevin a few times that I would like to do more "family stuff." So, in response to that, he got a bright idea and came home with a new camper. We met with a couple of friends and headed out towards Asheville, NC to "rough it" for the weekend. Now, I say "roughing it" with the quotation marks boldly marked, as our camper had a bathroom and shower. Sorry buddy...that's as close to roughing it as I'm gonna get.

The evening hit 20's and the daytime was probably about in the 40's or 50's. Cold as shit! Gabriel cried both nights and kept me up all weekend. That was torture enough for me, and I spent my weekend pretty crabby. Although I'm not quite certain if I'll be back for more (especially before Gabriel is old enough to walk), I must admit that it was quite beautiful out there. The trees were bright reds and oranges, and we even ate all of our meals fireside, thanks to Todd!

Interesting for a first family trip, but I'm pretty sure it's a trip I won't be asking for again. Oh well. You don't know til you try!

This was pretty cool. We were able to park right by this waterfall and then only walk down a few "flights" to reach the water. We were so close that mist was actually wetting us. The bad part was we had to climb back up to get to our car. Whoof...I'm really out of shape big time. And I had to carry the baby...

I think this picture is so funny. Here's Gabriel doing this new snorty face thing while he huffs and snorts.

I took a piece of plastic clay
And idly fashioned it one day;
And as my fingers pressed it still,
It moved and yielded at my will.

I came again when days were past,
The form I gave it still did last
And as my fingers pressed it still,
I could change that form no more at will.

I took a piece of living clay,
And gently formed it day by day,
And molded with my power and art,
A young child's soft and yielding heart.

I came again when days were gone;
It was a man I looked upon,
He still that early impress bore,
And I could change it never more.
