Happy Birthday To Me!
This past Friday, I celebrated my 29th birthday. I promised Kevin I would take the day off, but we ended up both running out of the house in the morning and getting straight to work. I couldn't help it; I just had so much crap to do. Besides, I can't say that I've been much in a celebrating mood. Aw, crap. It's my last year in my 20's. I always wondered what the big deal was after 21.
Kevin asked me what I wanted for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn't think of a thing. I did, however, know what I didn't want. I absolutely didn't want a birthday party. To me, the best gift would be to let me sleep in, and wake up to a clean house. Running around and cleaning up for guests and then after just doesn't seem like much of a gift. Apparently, I didn't get either one of those idea gifts-and the icing on the cake to this story? I spoiled his birthday surprise party he'd been planning on for a month.Oops.
Kevin had numerous phone calls the day before my birthday with people wondering why they never received invitations to the party he had been speaking about. He had to explain that I made it very clear that I did not want a party, and he cancelled plans. I felt bad, but not disappointed.
After finally dragging me away from work, Kevin and I took the motorcycle out for lunch on the beach, then enjoyed dessert downtown. Very low-key, but quite alright with me. I was just about ready to put Gabriel to bed when we got home and then treat myself to an early bedtime for myself, but found one last present. Kevin had flowers and a cake greeting me with a birthday card filled with....shopping money! He felt a little guilty that the gift was so "impersonal," but to be honest, I've found that freedom of gift cards and shopping money are always welcomed by me!

Family In Town!
I've been extremely busy here the last week or so. I've picked up a couple of listings, and a few buyers, so I've been kind of running around and trying to earn a paycheck. This weekend, however, Erick, Rachel, and Eleanor were visiting to celebrate El and Erick's soon to be baby girl. It was a much welcomed excuse for me to take a day off of work. Thank God, because the day before the shower, I was running all over the place, and ended up with a work day much longer than intended.
The shower was ironically held in a real estate office (I felt a little funny pulling up in the parking lot, with my Prudential signs on my truck), and the weather was unfortunately rainy and yucky. That didn't stop everyone from showing up though, bearing gifts galore. El's sister had thought up some cute games for the ladies to play, and I think that it all worked out pretty nicely. Here's a picture of Erick and El opening up the presents from us. I found an adorable turtle outfit for Isabella at Gymboree's, where I recently spent an assload on a shopping spree, searching for stuff for Gabriel, Isabella, and Ava. In fact, Erick and El informed me how they didn't really like Gymboree's stuff...prior to opening up their present, of course. Doh! Ha, ha...open mouth, insert foot. I think they liked the outfit anyway...or, so they say...
