Kevin and Kai accompanied me to Chester, SC this weekend to attend another boogie. This time there was a CASA holding about 35 jumpers, who get to run out of the opening tail of the plane. Also, hot air balloons and helicopters were present to jump from. Once again however, poor weather dampened my jumping plans, but not the spirits of other fellow jumpers lingering around and socializing. After 5 hours of praying for clouds to pass, we decided to head on to Charlotte, about 30 minutes away.
For Halloween, Carowinds closes its doors for an hour and reopens 7 pm-midnight for a Halloween themed "Scarowinds." Normally smiling bubblegum cartoon characters suddenly become bloody axe murderers, hiding in thick fog, waiting to lash at their next victim. Although there were not many rides to go on, I still enjoyed the park better, with its cooler weather and shorter lines. Also, the haunts were a nice touch. We called it a night afterwards and headed home this morning.
I considered stopping at Chester in hopes of perhaps clearer weather today for a jump, but alas...I had hoped for too much. That is, until we got all the way back home. Hmph, go figure...
