It's hard to keep friendships these days. It seems that along with growing up, comes less and less time to hang around. We've got jobs, kids, spouses, bills, etc, etc, etc...What ever happened to the days of part-time jobs and hanging around the rest of the time? No more.

Although I do know a good bit of people, and spend my days around numerous individuals, there really aren't many that I would consider "friends." Even rarer, good friends. I have a handful of people that I have kept touch with over the years and consider my life-long friends. The rest are those that I know will fizzle out of my life, due to time contraints, over time.

Although my truly good friends are few and far between, it's always nice to know that even when we can't spend time together like we used to, we can always touch base and continue on where we left off. Occassional phone calls, occassional lunches, wherever we can find time to get together to say hi.

It's sort of silly, but the other week, some of my skydiving buddies called me from Illinois to let me know how much fun they were having (without me), but wished I could be there to join in. It does stink that there are things I have to miss out on, but it made me laugh to hear them yelling in the background and thinking to call me to say hello...And then, they made sure to make it a point to send me pictures of what I missed out on. Go ahead, rub it in.

*sigh* I love my friends....
